“Local History tells us that, no matter where we are, something great happened here.”

When I was six years old, my grandfather bought me my first history book – “Portraits of the Presidents” – an illustrated guide of the U.S. Presidents from Washington to Reagan.  If I had to trace my love of history back to one moment, that would be it.  I spent the next few weeks reading through that book, cover to cover, and memorizing the presidents.  Whenever my grandparents came over, I would recite them in order.  My grandfather was very proud, and I was hooked.

History became my favorite subject in school, which eventually led to me becoming a Historian.  I received my education at Geneva College, and even picked up a teaching certificate along the way.

My other passion has always been writing.  Between 2015 and 2020, I authored a weekly newspaper column in the Beaver County Times called “Histories & Mysteries”.  I have also published articles in several other newspapers, magazines, and historical journals.  Since 2009, I have been offering my writing and historical expertise to municipalities, businesses, non-profit organizations, and individuals in a variety of ways.  If you need help with any type of content writing, proofreading, or copy editing (“rewriting”), I can provide you with professional results at a reasonable, one-time rate.  All information is available in the “Hire Me to Write!” section of this site.

If you have an organization that needs a guest speaker, I can provide you with an informative and entertaining appearance.  I have spoken at dozens of events throughout Western Pennsylvania over the past decade.  My presentations are on local history (Beaver County and Pittsburgh, specifically), and include many historic photographs, maps, and relics from the past.  All appearances include a 30-60 minute interactive lecture and a 15-30 minute Q&A afterwards.  If you are interested in booking a speaking appearance, all information is available in the “Hire Me to Speak!” section of this site.

Do you have a building you need a history of?  Do you have holes in your family history or family tree?  Are you involved with a local civic or community organization that needs a history put together?  All of these services are available in the “Hire Me for Research!” section of the site.
